Pat's dismayed to hear that Ruby's returning to boarding school, but Johnny insists that it's her decision, and that it's for the best. Stacey sneers at him for sending his daughter away again.Johnny catches Ruby snooping about. She admits that she was looking for Tina's number. He urges her to forget about Tina, its over but Ruby won't give up and persuades Billy to carry out some investigations. Billy finds Tina and implores her to return to Walford and talk to Ruby. She's moved by his pleas, but insists that she doesn't want to meet Johnny as well.Ruby's grateful to Tina for her honesty, it helped heal her relationship with her dad, and points out that only Tina can make her dad happy. Tina's touched, but still thinks it's too late.Ruby apologises to Stacey for her tactless comments. She didn't mean to suggest that working in a shop was a dead-end job. She buys Stacey a pair of ice skates as a peace offering. Soon, they're best pals again.Pat and Tina talk about men, Tina won't play second fiddle to Johnny's dead wife. Pat reminisces about all the time she spent apart from Frank. She believes that true love's always worth another try

Ruby's about to leave for school when Tina shows up, Ruby leaves them to talk, but Johnny runs after her, to hug her in gratitude. He whispers that he loves her dearly, and always has done.

Derek thanks Dot and Jim for letting him stay, but feels he'll have to find a place of his own soon.Pauline asks Dot to inform Derek that his son called, she reckons that Dot's betrayed her, just like everyone else. Dot's taken aback by Pauline's vicious tirade.

Derek tries to make peace with Pauline, she accuses him of turning Martin against her. Derek then tries talking to Martin, but finds out that he's just as stubborn as his mother, later Pauline softens and asks Derek to move back in. He promises to think about it. Derek mentions to Martin that his son, Alex has asked him to come and live with his family.

Meanwhile Pauline sees that Demi's upset and invites her in for a chat, Demi appreciates Pauline's wise words about families and asks her to be Aleesha's godmother. Pauline feels honoured. Pauline's upset to hear that Derek's decided to leave, he warns her not to make the same mistakes as him. He was a stranger to his family for years.

The Millers discuss who'd make the best godparents for Aleesha with Keith saying that they need to be well-heeled, and selects Johnny. Darren nominates Chrissie to be the godmother. Demi walks away in disgust. Rosie's gutted to hear that Pauline's going to be the godmother. Demi asks Mickey to be the godfather. He's delighted. The family's attention turns to an unwelcome visitor in the kitchen a huge rat!
