There’s no letting up when it comes to drama in the soap world, whether we’re in the festive season or not. In fact, it’s around this time when the residents of various fictional towns seem to find themselves at their unluckiest, and that tradition isn’t going to be squandered in this week’s batch of new EastEnders episodes on BBC One.
Releasing a brand new trailer last night (Christmas Day) after the special hour-long episode, the BBC have managed to showcase a little bit of everything we’ll see taking place over the next seven days in just 91 short seconds.
Whilst the Beale family are worried about Max Branning’s return to Albert Square and Whitney finally demanding answers from her partner Lee Carter, there’s not going to be a shortage of intensity on the Square this week.
What everybody seems to be waiting for however is the exit of Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell. Samantha Womack and Rita Simons will be bowing out of EastEnders together in scenes that have already been described as “gruesome”, though there’s no telling exactly how they’ll be making their exit. It’s even been reported that multiple scenes were shot because of the amount of paparazzi on location when the duo were filming their final scenes for the soap, with just one of the endings filmed being used on the actual show.
