Whilst Shabnam is hoping to get a promotion, things don't get exactly to plan and she ends up falling out with her friends and family before being confronted by Kush, who gets more than he ever expected. Meanwhile, Stacey gives her statement to the police leaving Mick and Linda relieved, and Sharon's determined to clean up Ben's mess, though she's unsettled to find a disturbing letter and shares her problems with Jane. With her own concerns however, Jane thinks her wishes for having a low-key wedding ceremony will be forgotten once Alfie and husband-to-be Ian get their heads together.

Preparing for Emma's funeral, Max receives a visit from the police and is told he isn't to go as the family don't want him there. Lauren and Abi are concerned and ask Carol to have a chat with him, but there doesn't seem to be anything anyone can do to stop the Branning patriarch from self-destructing. Ian gets the men together, working on his big surprise for the wedding, and Shabnam feels betrayed by a friend and regretful about what transpired with Kush.

The Carter family worry justice will never be served and so host a karaoke night, not expecting Dean to turn up with Patrick, Denise and Shirley at the pub. Shabnam confides in Stacey and the two put their differences aside, with the reveal of a secret that's been kept away for years, whilst Phil shows Sharon just how angry he can really get.
