Martin's back and tension is growing between he and Sonia as she's admitted to hospital, although when she finally returns home the pair get a chance to talk to one another about their true feelings. Just as it seems things are going somewhere, Sonia asks one key question that could take them back to square one. Elsewhere Linda's having a bad day and taking out her frustrations on anyone and everything, and a shock confession to Mick leaves him stunned. Tosh is fed up with Tina's constant lies so she decides the two must move away if their relationship is to survive. They're not the only family with trouble, as the Beales relationships are strained, with Jane doing her best to mend bridges between Ian and Peter. Things look up for the Slaters however when Charlie sends some money for the family to go and join him in Lanzarote for Christmas.

When Tina announces she'll be moving away with Tosh, the Carter family aren't happy at all, so Aunt Babe comes up with a plan to ensure that the couple's relationship doesn't see them relocate. It's Peter Beale's 21st birthday but his father Ian is still struggling to forgive him for dealing drugs to Lucy, so he refuses to go to an impromptu party for him organised by friends. Peter finds it hard celebrating without his sister by his side however, and so he slips back to Masood's where he takes a line of cocaine. Meanwhile back at the Vic, Mick does his best to change Linda's mind about the abortion.

Tosh's violent attack leaves Tina at her lowest ebb, refusing to return her girlfriend's messages, and when she turns up at the pub full of remorse, Shirley ensures she knows just how unwelcome she truly is. When Tina then asks to speak to her alone however, she could give in and forgive her one more time. Elsewhere, Linda insists that she'll go to her abortion alone despite not being 100% sure she wants to go through with it, whilst Ian's shocked to hear Peter was on cocaine the night of his birthday. Nick's frustrated with being stuck in the house and so ignores Yvonne's warnings and heads out, and it isn't long before one of the Square's long-time residents claps eyes on Dot's supposedly deceased son.

Ian's stunned when he learns a huge secret and so rushes to make amends with his son, whilst Shirley and Mick are left speechless once more by an Aunt Babe revelation. Finding themselves face-to-face with an old familiar face, they can't believe their eyes. Charlie's asked for help by Aleks, who's still upset he's lost Roxy.
