Anna Shaffer will be leaving her role in 'Hollyoaks'.

The 21-year-old actress has decided to quit her role as Ruby Button in the Channel 4 soap, after a three year stint of playing the villainous student.

A show source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Anna felt it was the right time to move on."

Anna - who first appeared in the soap in January 2011 - is currently filming some of her final scenes, which will air early next year.

Ruby has caused chaos on the show since her arrival in Chester, where she was introduced as the manipulative sister of Duncan Button (Dean Aspen) who was secretly battling with illiteracy.

The feisty teen played a major part in the Esther Bloom bullying story, tormenting her friend (Jazmine Franks) after blaming her for the death of her boyfriend Jono (Dylan Llewellyn).

Her last storylines will involve her rocky relationship with ladies' man Ziggy Roscoe (Fabrizio Santino).

Anna is also known for playing Romilda Vane in the final three 'Harry Potter' films, so it is thought she could go on to pursue a Hollywood movie career.

'Hollyoaks' show bosses have shaken things up in recent weeks, killing off several fan-favourite characters in a dramatic nightclub bomb blast.
