Realising that Annie has snuck out in the night, Geoff recalls their earlier conversation and heads straight to Stewart’s Point with Roman. His suspicions prove well founded when they arrive to find her in a car with Reverend Hall, whom she is desperately trying to convince to return to the hospital. Poor Annie soon realises her mistake when Hall makes his intentions known: he plans on driving his car off the headland, and he’s taking her with him. Knowing how delicate the situation is, Roman seizes the opportunity to act and directs Geoff to distract Hall so that they can get his terrified sister out of the car in time – but that’s only half the battle won. Despite having lost his hostage, a disillusioned Hall proceeds to drive forwards; it’s only when the brave Geoff steps in front of the car ready to stop him that the situation is momentarily calmed down. But no sooner has Jack arrived on the scene than Hall deems the whole thing a set-up and once again attempts to throw himself off the cliff, leaving it to Roman to prove his worth – and superhuman strength – by tackling him. Crisis averted, the day’s events are enough to see the newly crowned Rambo redeeming himself to Irene and for Geoff realising that a change in career may well be on the cards. My heroWhen Rachel hears from Jack about Roman’s heroics, her admiration for the newcomer is obvious; nothing a disgruntled Tony can say is going to send him down in her estimations. Leaving Tony’s specially prepared breakfast uneaten, Rachel rushes off to the diner to get the low-down from the man himself, eager to hear of any injuries to which she may be able to tend – all the while doing little to convince anyone that this is purely a case of professional concern. ‘Correct me if I’m wrong: do I sniff the scent of romance in the air?’ Colleen asks, pointing Irene in the direction of the Bay’s serial flirts. Unfortunately, life isn’t quite that simple for poor Rachel, who ultimately finds herself caught up in yet another love triangle when Tony bites the bullet and asks her out on a date.

It’s only during a later visit to the beach to compare brawn that her mind is finally made up – with a little help from resident busybody Colleen. A mere mention of the parallel between Roman and Kim is all it takes to send Rachel in Tony’s direction – but has she picked him for all the wrong reasons?
