Things between Ric and Matilda continue to stagnate, and Matilda can't stand it anymore. Ric for his part is avoiding a deep and meaningful like the plague, still hoping they can find a way to get back together and knowing where such a conversation will inevitably lead. But Matilda forces it, and Ric can only keep running so long. It's a sad moment for both of them; they're still in love, but their relationship has finally come to the end, and even Ric knows it's for the best. Still, there’s plenty of drama to take Matilda’s mind off the break-up. Jack is back in the Bay and, with Sam and Rory safely out of reach as they visit family in the city, happy to enjoy a hassle-free reunion with his ex. Unfortunately, just this brief exchange of pleasantries is enough to see Martha struggling with old insecurities once again, making her vulnerable to one of the Surf Club’s customers – and leaving Mattie and Luc to pick up the pieces.Still waters run deepMeanwhile, Miles swallows his pride and takes Sally up on her offer of clean clothes and the use of the caravan park showers, and is delighted when she goes one step further by handing over the keys to one of the vans. While Colleen may initially be less than impressed by her new non-paying neighbour, she soon changes her mind when the mystery newcomer embarks on a radical transformation and sets about repaying his debts through hard graft. ‘I suppose we all judged that book by its cover when we shouldn’t have,’ she tells Sally, hoping to offload a share of the blame. But winning over his staunchest critic is the least of Miles’s worries. That night he has a nightmare: two hands desperately clasp each other amid a chaotic frenzy deep in the water, until they're finally pulled apart. What tragedy could have befallen him to leave him in the state he's in now?

P.S. I love you

When Cassie returns home to find a scribbled note from Henk telling her that he's rushed off to the city, she can't help but think he might have suffered a case of cold feet and left her stranded. While Martha’s suggestion of this all being part of his cover story for finding the perfect engagement ring is enough to put her friend in a spin, it turns out that the truth is worse than she could ever have imagined. Far from being the business trip he claimed, Henk’s visit to the city brings with it some devastating news. The person that he’s rushed off to see is Dr Moore, who’s been trying to track down his patient for some time. ‘You recall you had some tests done when you were here?’ he asks grimly. ‘Look, I’m afraid your blood work showed up something quite unexpected. Henk, I’m sorry, you’re HIV positive.’
