Hoping to deal with what thinks are unresolved issues from her childhood, Sally has taken up Rachel’s suggestion of seeing a counsellor. As she talks through her confusion of being compelled to help Miles, a man she barely knows, she wonders aloud whether her obsession over the strange pull she feels towards him is a sign of a relapse into the OCD with which she once suffered. Having been given an assignment to keep a journal, Sally returns home to find herself no less intrigued by the new man in her life. After yet another throwback to her past, curiosity finally gets the better of her, and she confronts Miles about the feelings she's having. She slowly confesses to the strong, intense connection she feels they share; it’s almost as if they’ve known each other for a lifetime. ‘Sometimes I see you looking at me and it’s like there’s something that you want to tell me. It’s just driving me crazy,’ she says, pushing for a response. But does he feel the same way? And if so, will he be ready to admit it?What a difference a day makesAfter Martha insisting that Henk should be the one to take to his fiancée’s side during her visit to the doctor’s, Cassie is surprised to find herself the centre of attention when it comes to what she assumes will be a complete non-event. When they come face to face with the doctor, however, the news Henk’s been most dreading becomes a reality. Barely having had time to process what she’s heard – that she too is HIV positive – a devastated Cassie sees the look of guilt etched on Henk’s face before running out of the clinic and straight into the path of an oncoming vehicle. When she wakes up in hospital hoping it’s all been one bad dream, the life-changing truth gradually begins to sink in, and there’s nothing either Martha or Henk can say to console her. ‘I never meant to be eighteen, pregnant and HIV positive,’ she screams in response to her fiancé’s desperate apologies, little knowing that she’s drawn a crowd of her nearest and dearest friends outside her door. They may instantly vow to stick by her, but she makes it clear that she’s less than prepared to do the same for them if they dare breathe a word to anyone, let alone Sally. Are friendships about to be put to the ultimate test?
