What are you saying? That you’re my brother?’ a dumbfounded Sally asks Miles. Her head is swimming as she desperately tries to resurrect memories of the shared past he describes: how their parents always fought; how, after their mother Diana threatened to leave with both of them, their alcoholic father Aaron took Miles on the run. It was a few years later, when he discovered that Diana and her second husband Derek, had died in a boating accident, that Aaron and Miles went back to find Sally, only to conclude that she was better off with the Fletchers. Miles goes on to explain how, following his father’s death and the eventual tragedy in Phuket, he became a bit of a drifter; it was by chance that he wound up in Summer Bay and recognised it from all those years ago, hoping that it would offer him the chance to get his life back on track. But despite Sally’s very obvious sympathy for all that her companion has experienced, she struggles to overcome her doubts. ‘We have a connection. I’m Milco,’ he insists. Sally starts thinking back; she remembers a woman pointing at a little boy and asking her to say his name, and a man standing there encouraging her. ‘You’re my twin brother,’ she remembers, everything finally clicking into place. It’s as they embrace for the first time in twenty-seven years that – quelle surprise – the scandal-seeking Colleen interrupts the moment. Here's Johnny! With Colleen on the case, it's not long before everyone in the Bay becomes privy to the news that Miles and Sally are brother and sister. From a hastily made phone call to Pippa, who promises to return for a visit at the next available opportunity, to a string of well wishes from excited friends, it’s evidently an emotional time for these recently reunited twins – especially for Miles, who gets his first taste of acceptance following years of struggling to belong. The only person missing from the celebrations is Cassie, who remains in hospital discussing her options with newly found confidante Rachel, but amidst the excitement even Ric’s poor attempt at an excuse for her absence seems to slip under the radar. After all, in light of everything that she’s been through, Sally feels relieved not only that her instant connection with this once mysterious man has now been explained but also that she can finally rest easy as, with another family member ready to share with her every future high and low, she prepares for the next chapter of her life. But at the end of what seems like a perfect day, Sally’s sweet dreams are interrupted by a phone call from Jack: Johnny Cooper has broken out of jail – and he’s thought to be heading straight back to the Bay to wreak his revenge…
