New mum Alison King has revealed her post pregnancy body "needs a lot more help".

She's very independent and is quite selfish. But as I found out, you never know how you'll cope until you've done it.

King, who plays Coronation Street's Carla Connor, gave birth to her first child Daisy Mae eight months ago and says she's still struggling with her new body shape.

She said: "Since the baby there's more thigh and my boobs have gone right down - they need a lot more help.

"And because I had a Ceasarian section, unless I train every day, my stomach will take quite a while to go back to the way it was."

But the 39-year-old actress says her body isn't her only worry - she's feeling the weight of responsibility for her daughter, too.

King said: "Being a mum destroys all your priorities. It also means feeling scared and petrified that you're solely responsible for this little thing, and gut-wrenchingly guilty that if you aren't there something might happen."

She says a pregnancy storyline could change her character Carla. "She's very independent and is quite selfish. But as I found out, you never know how you'll cope until you've done it."
