David Platt's Tearful Task

David Platt will have to tell his ex-girlfriend Tina McIntyre her father has died.

The reformed bad boy - played by Jack P. Shepherd - has to break the news to his former lover that the body of her dad Joe Platt (Reece Dinsdale), who recently wed his mother Gail (Helen Worth), has been found dead.

Michelle Keegan - who plays Tina - said: "Tina hears the news from David and can't believe it at first. She lashes out in total shock. I think David's pretty upset about everything, too. Although he and Joe had their ups and downs, he was the only father figure in David's life, and kept Tina close to the house. David comes to tell her about Joe just as Gail's being questioned by the police."

Once she realised her beloved father's passing was true, Tina and her new step-mother Gail "cling" to each other to get through their heartache.

She added: "Gail and Tina go to the mortuary together, and really cling onto one another. They're very mutually supportive at this point in time - both of them feel so low and lonely. Tina and Gail have lost a big part of their lives and need each other."
