Coronation Street's Lloyd Mullaney is going to fall in love with a stripper.

The Jack-the-lad cabbie - played by Craig Charles - is shocked when the ITV soap's stunning new character Cheryl makes a beeline for him and he quickly becomes smitten.

Lloyd thinks she's a knockout. In fact, so do all the fellas in the pub, so Lloyd can't believe it when she seems to take a shine to him over all the other drooling lads.

A spokesperson for the ITV soap told The Sun newspaper: "Lloyd thinks she's a knockout. In fact, so do all the fellas in the pub, so Lloyd can't believe it when she seems to take a shine to him over all the other drooling lads."

Lloyd's crush on the curly-haired temptress develops when he starts giving her regular lifts across Weatherfield.

However, the pair are likely to have a turbulent romance when their feelings for each other intensify and Lloyd discovers she works as an exotic dancer.

At first, Cheryl - played by former 'Grange Hill' actress Holly Quin-Ankrah - tries to emotionally hold back, but she soon opens up to Lloyd about her personal problems.

The source added: "She tries to keep him at arm's length. When we learn more about her troubled personal life, we realise Lloyd is putting his heart - and his safety - on the line for the woman he loves."
