Lucy Pargeter hates her 'Emmerdale' alter-ego being happy.
The raven-haired actress - who plays tarty Chas Dingle in the ITV soap - says she enjoys playing Chas when there's turmoil in her life because it's more exciting.

Chas is currently dating vet Paddy Kirk but is set to begin an affair with her ex Carl King and Lucy isn't sure who the mouthy receptionist should end up with.
She said: "I love working with Dominic Brunt (Paddy) - he's absolutely hilarious and we have a lot of fun on set. But Tom Lister (Carl) and I work well together, too, so it's hard.
"From the character's point of view, Chas could do with the stability Paddy offers. She may not be in love with him, but she does love him and he's done everything for her.
"Meanwhile, Carl's a loose cannon, and just can't resist him. They have a connection."
