Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter believes in ghosts.

The head was made from foam and the eye flaps moved up and down

Lucy - who plays fiery Chastity Dingle in the ITV1 soap - said she's convinced ghouls exist, and is desperate to have an encounter with one.

She said: "My parent's live in a big, old house and sometimes our dogs race to the top of the stairs, back up for no reason, cower and come straight back down the stairs.

"Up in the attic of our house, Lola my daughter used to say hello and goodbye to somebody and I'd ask who it was and she'd say 'The man of course!'"

The 32-year-old actress also admitted she doesn't like dressing up for Halloween.

She said: "I always feel like a complete plonker. I hate drawing attention to myself and I'd rather blend into the background."

Her co-star Natalie Robb - who plays farmers-wife and mother of three Moira Barton in the soap - likes to get into the spirit of Halloween but revealed she once ended up spending it in hospital after a costume disaster.

She said: "I loved Sugar Puffs cereal as a kid and, when I was five-years-old, my mum made me a Honey Monster costume for a Halloween party. The head was made from foam and the eye flaps moved up and down. But the flaps of the eyes closed and I smashed into a wall. I spent Halloween in hospital having stitches on my forehead - I've still got the scar!"
