Ricky Whittle Could Face Trial

The 'Hollyoaks' star - who portrays bent policeman Calvin Valentine in the Channel 4 Soap - appeared before a judge at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today (12.03.10) following an incident on November 27 last year, where he allegedly drove his car at paparazzi photographer Steve Farrell.

Whittle was believed to be in the courtroom for less than one minute, and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

The star has indicated he will deny the claims on April 21, when he is due to Liverpool Crown Court for a plea and case management pre-trial hearing.

Whittle was arrested last year on suspicion of assault after he collided with pedestrian Farrell - who suffered minor injuries - following a leaving party for two of his 'Hollyoaks' co-stars.

At the time, a police spokesperson confirmed: "A man from Billinge, Lancashire, has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody where he will be questioned by officers later today.

"The arrest follows an incident in which took place in Duke Street, Liverpool City Centre, in the early hours of Friday morning. The incident involved a collision with a male pedestrian."

Whittle was charged with dangerous driving one month later.
