Coronation Street cast members could be on the receiving end of fines for real-life bad behaviour.

The ITV soap is said to have introduced the fines for stars when the show is brought into disrepute over an actors behaviour or actions.

The Sun newspaper was told by a source: "The view is that the only real way to punish the cast is to hit them where it really hurts - and that's financially.

"Unprofessional behaviour isn't going to be just accepted any more. Quite often, saying sorry isn't good enough."

The news comes after Jack P. Shepherd made inappropriate comments online about the fire at Manchester Dog's Home, which took over 50 animals lives.

Bosses made no mention of whether he'll be one of the first fined for the statements.

A Coronation Street spokesperson spoke to the Daily Mirror about Jack's comments: "Jack's ill-judged and insensitive tweets were clearly unacceptable and we will be talking to him about his conduct."

The Sun's insider added: "Discussion is being had as to how to deal with this."
