'Coronation Street' star Alison King is hoping her character Carla Barlow doesn't have her baby on the show.

The 41-year-old actress - who has five-year-old daughter Daisy Mae - would prefer her alter-ego to have an abortion because she doesn't want to film with a baby.

When asked whether she wants Carla to go through with the pregnancy, Alison said: "Absolutely not. Alex Bain, 12, who plays Simon [Barlow] is enough to work with.

"Personally, for me as an actress, it is better if she doesn't have a baby. When you are carrying a baby around, it slows you down and scenes take longer. You are not really being yourself as you are concentrating on a little bundle. I do that at home, so I don't want to do it at work too."

However, the brunette beauty insists she wouldn't be too annoyed if the show bosses wanted Carla, who is expecting her first child with her husband Peter (Chris Gascoyne), to go through with her pregnancy.

Alison explained to the TV Times magazine: "If they decide to make Carla a mum, I will go with that and take it whichever way they want. I trust the writers, plus I have played a pregnant woman before and love stroking the bump. If it happens, it will remind me of being pregnant with my daughter Daisy, which I loved."

Meanwhile, all hell is set to break loose on the cobbles in coming months after Carla finds out that Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan), who has been having an affair with Peter, is also pregnant with the recovering alcoholic's baby.

Producers are remaining tight-lipped on the outcome but Michelle is set to leave the ITV soap in May after being brutally murdered by a fellow resident.
