Hollyoaks star Danny Mac is to leave his role of Dodger Savage after nearly four years in the soap.

The 26-year-old has decided to depart to pursue new acting projects and will leave on-screen early next year, according to Digital Spy.

Following a hugely dramatic year and some explosive storylines for Dodger, a major exit is said to have been planned by show bosses for the popular character.

Recently at the centre of attention in the village, Maxine Minniver, Theresa McQueen and Sienna Blake have all been fighting for his affections - despite Sienna being his twin sister.

With their sights firmly set on Dodger in the coming weeks, his final storyline will revolve around the decision he makes and the consequences because of it.

Danny has become a major hit with fans not only for his acting but his handsome looks, winning the Sexiest Male prize at the British Soap Awards for the past two years consecutively.

Bryan Kirkwood recently told Digital Spy: "Dodger will be one of the stars of the show [over the next few months] as we focus on the battle for his heart and body from the good, the bad and the very, very wrong; Maxine, Theresa and Sienna."

Hollyoaks continues to air weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings broadcasting on E4 weekdays at 7pm.
