Michael Parr has admitted he feels like the Elvis Presley of Emmerdale when female fans approach him on the street.

Playing bad boy Ross Barton on the ITV soap, the 28-year-old can't help but feel like music royalty when the ladies come flocking.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper he explained: "I had this girl come up to me trying to take a selfie but she was shaking that badly all the photos kept coming out blurred.

"She was so nervous because she was meeting Ross Barton from 'Emmerdale'. It's like I am one of The Beatles or Elvis Presley, it's totally mad."

Since joining the show, Michael's been inundated with x-rated pictures, messages and marriage proposals, but claims that he receives even more attention from men.

"Guys stop me in the street and tell me, 'I hate you but only because my girlfriend never shuts up about you!' And they give me a lot of compliments on my hair, which is a bit bizarre!"

Next week will see Michael go up against EastEnders' actress Maddy Hill, Hollyoaks' new hunk Cameron Moore and Casualty's newbie Lee Mead in the National Television Awards' Best Newcomer category.

He added: "If you win then you go, 'Oh yes, I deserve this', But if you don't win then it's like, 'Well, she's got more Twitter followers than me!' You make excuses!"
