Former Hollyoaks actress Wallis Day is missing her co-stars on the show but is pleased with her decision to leave.

Quitting her role last year as Holly Cunningham, the 20-year-old says it was disappointing to depart but the exit came at the "perfect time" for her career.

Speaking in central London at the DISARONNO wears VERSACE launch party, she told BANG Showbiz: "It was sad to leave but at the end of the day I knew that I had to make it as a career choice.

"I'm not dissing soaps because they're fantastic but I never wanted to be in a soap forever.

"At 'Hollyoaks' because they're so nice I felt so comfortable I could've just done that for years. So I felt like last year was probably the perfect time.

"I wanted to keep the ball rolling, I wanted to travel and do all the things I've done really. So I don't regret leaving but of course I miss them.

"I've been travelling and everything since. It literally hasn't stopped."

Now she's playing a part in new film The Boy With The Thorn In His Side, and admits she's looking forward to filming in Liverpool and meeting up with some of her former castmates.

"We're filming some of the scenes for my new film in Liverpool soon and I'm going to go up and spend time with my old directors and the cast. I can't wait to see them all again.

"I'm so excited for it. I'm going to see the lovely Step and some of my other friends from the cast. Hopefully we're going to have a good time.

"It'll be something like a Hollyoaks-style reunion party, yeah."
