NOTE: Spoilers

And so it's the beginning of the end. Season 7 is rearing its head in the way of the UK after premiering over two weeks ago in America, and fans are getting ready to mourn the passing of one of the most controversial and exciting supernatural series on television.

With four stellar first seasons and two lacklustre follow-ups, I was a little anxious going into season 7 but kept my hopes high, knowing that if they screwed this up they'd have vicious fans at their throats for years to come.

So we pick up exactly where we left off - Hep-V infected vamps are looking for humans to feast on, and where better to go than the extremely f**ked up Bon Temps?

Side-note: The people in Bon Temps never get a break. We may get a happy ending to the series, but we all know that if it were to continue the town would probably end up with a population of 0 because everybody would be either dead, or have moved away because of the constant threats.

Anyway, that being said where would we be without the drama?

So, the 'good' vamps are fighting the 'bad' vamps and trying to protect their humans that have been gifted to them through a plan from Mayor Sam (weird new role, but I'll roll with it), and then something major happens in just a few seconds. Tara dies. And we don't even see it take place.

People weep, but on the whole they don't seem -that- bothered about her passing. She'd already died once, remember? Still, I expected a little more here, which hints to me that there's surely Tara will be making a return in some form or another in the near-future.

On the whole I was impressed with the episode. It laid out the foundations for what should be an intense final season, and some of my personal favourite scenes came from Kristin Bauer van Straten who's on the hunt for her maker.

True Blood will never be what it was when it first started, but it's definitely not as dire as some would like to make out, and improvements have been made following seasons five and six.

The cast and crew should be applauded for bringing us back time and time again, and although goodbyes certainly do suck, I feel more confident now that this goodbye will be a pleasing one.

True Blood season 7 premieres tomorrow on FOX UK at 9pm.
