True Detective is back with a new all-star cast and compelling storyline that's sure to capture the attention of millions once more when it returns to HBO.

Starting Sunday, June 21 in America, Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch, writer and showrunner Nic Pizzolato returns for all episodes of the new season.

This time round we'll jump right into the world of corruption within the California law enforcement, Kitsch at the centre as a war veteran and motorcycle cop who uncovers a strange and mysterious crime scene.

Corrupt cop Ray Valcoro (Farrell), Ventura County sheriff Ani Bezzerides (McAdams) and career criminal Frank Semyon (Vaughn) will be brought together with Kitsch's character for a murder investigation that will push all four to their very limits.

Kelly Reilly also stars as Semyon's wife, a woman who struggles with the choices her husband makes in his battle to save everything he's ever worked for.

Director Justin Lin has stepped in for the first two episodes of the new season.

True Detective season two is to broadcast on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
