Fast Lane came to the WWE for the first time this past weekend, and set the stage for some match-ups we'll be seeing at this year's Wrestlemania.

Despite a terrible crowd which were at times absolutely silent, it was a night to remember with some good displays of talent.

Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show defeat Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan

Though I'm not quite sure I'll ever be able to get over just how badly Big Show sells being DDT'd, the rest of this match was driven home well and culminated in the return of Randy Orton, who RKO'd everything in sight that would come between he and Seth Rollins. Hoping for revenge against the self-proclaimed 'future of the WWE', Randy had a score to settle, but it's one that went on the back-burner and was instead tackled on Monday Night Raw.

The action here was up and down, with Ryback bringing some well-needed speed to proceedings before Big Show's knock-out punch ended the match, despite neither Dolph Ziggler or Rollins being showcased.

Goldust defeats Stardust

Over a little faster than I would have liked and with less in-the-ring action than was probably needed, this is just the beginning of a brotherly rivalry that should end with a retirement match at Wrestlemania, with Goldust finally leaving his legacy behind him and allowing Cody Rhodes to continue and carry on with his character of Stardust.

Cody is brilliant in this role, reacting to audience participation and chants of 'Cody' with screams of anger and sadness, before unloading on his brother backstage following his defeat and blaming his father for making him the black sheep of the family.

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro defeat The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championships

Following some overexposure, The Usos finally had to give up their titles to the incredible pairing of Kidd and Cesaro - a pair with chemistry better than some tag teams that have been together for years, despite only forming a few months back.

Cesaro and Kidd aren't clean players, but instead utilise every single opportunity that comes their way - if that means bending the rules, then so be it. It meant they walked away with the titles in a well-fought battle which will now likely see them take on the rest of the division, which hopefully is one they'll reign supreme over.

Sting challenges Triple H to a Wrestlemania bout

In perhaps the most talked about confrontation of the night before the event, Sting came out and said absolutely nothing, instead speaking with his famed bat when Triple H attempted to knock him out with his own weapon of choice, the sledgehammer.

Pointing at the Wrestlemania sign, his intent was clear, and the match was scheduled there and then with the WWE COO agreeing to tackle the WCW icon in just under five weeks time.

Nikki Bella defeats Paige to retain the Diva's Championship

Nikki was sloppy and so Paige did the best with what she was given. The match ended as we predicted, with Nikki retaining under less-than-orthodox circumstances, which will likely see a rematch with a sprinkling of other Divas added in for Wrestlemania. (and hopefully the debut of former NXT champ Charlotte!)

Bad News Barrett retains the Intercontinental Championship against Dean Ambrose

I couldn't be a bigger fan of Barrett and his in-ring presence, and so when the match looked to be ending with him skulking off into the background and in essence 'giving up', I was disappointed.

Of course, the Lunatic Fringe wasn't going to let Barrett off that easily and instead dragged him back into the ring, letting his aggression take over and eventually being disqualified from the match. This didn't stop him from taking the Intercontinental belt however and stealing the title for himself, despite Barrett retaining. After R-Truth's Smackdown win against Barrett and the proceedings of this week's Monday Night Raw, it's looking like a Fatal Four Way for the title is going to take place on the grandest stage of them all.

Bray Wyatt challenges The Undertaker to a Wrestlemania clash

Even I was convinced that The Undertaker had chosen Fast Lane as the place to make his comeback when the 'Rest In Peace' music hit, and so when Wyatt appeared out of the coffin dragged into the arena I felt cheated, but excited about his future.

Wyatt is one of the most promising stars in the WWE today and it's going to be great if he gets his wish of a match against Taker at Wrestlemania 31.

Roman Reigns defeats Daniel Bryan for the Wrestlemania main event spot

Did Reigns prove that he deserves his main event spot at Wrestlemania with his match here? A lot of the fans still don't think so, but someone who can take Bryan's constant and impressive looking kicks in the ring before taking his opponent out with a Spear after becoming the first to kick out of a pin following the Running Knee, is certainly someone who should be able to hold their own.

The loss was disappointing as a draw was expected to set up for a Triple Threat, but the WWE's faith in Reigns is reassuring and shows that sometimes, the fans may get things wrong - only time and the Wrestlemania main event will tell.

Overall, Fast Lane was impressive but not without its flaws. It did well to further storylines and kick off the final leg to Wrestlemania, and it certainly felt like a smartly placed pay-per-view just weeks before the big night.

WWE's Wrestlemania 31 takes place on Sunday, March 29 at Levi's Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area.
