ASDA has collaborated with The Vegan Society to give 16 of its own brand products the stamp of approval from the society for those who choose to eat an animal free, plant based diet.

The products include many cupboard staples like peanut butter, vegetable soup and tomato ketchup.

The trademark hopes to bring customers the comfort and reassurance that they are buying an animal free product when they do their shopping.

ASDA isn’t alone as companies like Alpro, Lush and Original Source already sport the trademark. In fact, the mark is on 24,000 products across 800 companies in the UK.

The newly labelled products are:

• Hearty Vegetable Soup

• Wholewheat Spaghetti

• Reduced Fat Smooth Peanut Butter

• Smooth Peanut Butter 340g

• Wholenut Crunchy Peanut Butter 340g and Crunchy Peanut Butter 340g

• Crunchy Peanut Butter Smart Price 340g
