Banana Colada

Banana Colada

Imagine a smoothie with the exotic taste of a Pina Colada, containing ingredients only full of healthy goodness and so naturally sweet and delicious that the kids can't put it down! Here we have a perfect blend of nutrition with a delicate smooth consistency using the Russell Hobbs 3 in 1 Ultimate Juicer.

Step 1 - Juice:

  • ½ pineapple (peeled and cored)

Step 2 - Press:

  • ½ large orange

Step 3 - Blend:

  • 1 banana, preferably frozen
  • 200ml (½ can) coconut milk
  • 1 tsp. sunflower seeds

Pineapple and orange provide the perfect juicy base to this smoothie, both packing in plenty of vitamin C. Juicing pineapple allows you to discard the tough fibre, leaving you with just the smooth juice. Oranges are often left out when it comes to making healthy smoothies as the thick skins can easily get caught up, leaving you with more waste and fewer nutrients. However with the press function on your Russell Hobbs 3-in-1 Ultimate juicer, you can easily extract the liquid from citrus fruits, squeezing out all of those nutrients your smoothie deserves!

Blending a frozen banana gives a lovely and thick consistency to this smoothie and we all know that bananas are packed with potassium which is great for keeping blood pressure in check. To top off the creamy consistency, coconut milk does the trick while providing a dairy free option.

A nut free way of absorbing those healthy fats is seeds, which are powerhouses of omega fats. Sunflower seeds not only contain calcium, but they are also one of the highest sources of magnesium, a mineral essential for getting calcium into growing bones. The perfect package for the little ones!
