Krysten Ritter, star of Jessica Jones, proves in her latest campaign with PETA US that she is a real life superhero. In her new video she asks that SeaWorld free all its orcas who are held in tiny tanks.

Famous underwater photographer Michael Muller took the shot of the actress floating inside a tank in a black and white bikini. She presses her hands against the broken glass next to the words "Break Free. Help Free the Orcas From SeaWorld".

Orcas are kept in the small SeaWorld tanks and have to swim in endless circles to get only a fraction of the mileage they would normally do in the wild. They can break their teeth from gnawing on the metal bars of their tank and allegedly experience high levels of stress.

In her exclusive interview with PETA US- Ritter said; "Orcas are meant to swim for 100 miles a day. They would have to swim back and forth 3,100 times in their tank to make up for that exercise".

She also notes in the video that orcas are family orientated and spend their entire lives with their families in the wild.

At SeaWorld families often become separated and the animals are placed with other orcas whom they are not compatible with.

She adds, " They are paired with other orcas who maybe don't even speak their same language. It would be like you and I trapped in a bathtub and you spoke French and I spoke English. There [would be] no way for us to communicate".

This isn't Ritter's first show of support for PETA US- whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to use for entertainment" - and now she joins a long list of celebrities - including Jason Biggs, Lily Tomlin, Marisa Miller, Joan Jett, Tommy Lee, Joanna Krupa, and Laura Vandervoort - who have teamed up with PETA US to help to put an end to the captivity of marine animals.
