I was overjoyed the other day when I visited Sainsbury's and found Linda McCartney's Vegetarian Sausage Rolls in the frozen aisle. I normally shop at Asda and they don't stock this line so you can image how excited I was to try another of the range.

Linda McCartney's Vegetarian Sausage Rolls

You get six to a box, which is sufficient for three meals so they are excellent value for money at only £2 a box- you can't grumble at a little over 60p per portion.

If you miss your Cumberland style sausages then these will certainly satisfy your taste buds.

Fortified with calcium, iron, niacin and thiamine, they are made with vegans in mind and top you up on some of the things you might be missing from your other foods during the day.

Per 2 cooked rolls, you get a whopping 11.5g of protein too- over a quarter of your daily requirement.

They are quire fatty, so I would keep these in reserve as a treat once week when you are tired of cooking. All you have to do is brush some milk alternative on the top and pop them in the oven for 15-20 minutes and they are done- easy. Ideal for pastry night (if you have one in your house) or when you're looking to indulge a little more for your evening meal.

They are very tasty and to be honest, I couldn't taste the difference between them and a sausage meat roll. Often I can but on this occasion, it tasted just like the real thing.

They go great with homemade sweet potato chips for a pub like dinner dipped in tomato sauce- yum!

Or you could have them with mash- they have got sausages in the middle after all.

They are great for if you get invited anywhere where there's a buffet that won't be serving vegan food. If you are popping over to a house party or to an event, you can take some of these with you so you know you can still enjoy traditional buffet style food. They are also handy if you are having a get together at home- your friends and family probably won't even notice. But if they do- more for you!

I am glad I got to sample another of the Linda McCartney range that's suitable for vegans- just the burgers and the vegemince to go then I will be well rehearsed in them all!
