I’m ashamed to admit it, but back in the days of eating fish, I ate scampi for every evening meal when I went on my holidays to Scotland once. Yes, I was that child- but at least I was consistent- and now I can repeat that holiday once again- even after cutting out the fish.

Linda Mccartney's Vegetarian Scampi Bites

Linda Mccartney's Vegetarian Scampi Bites

You can image my joy now I’m vegan and Linda McCartney announce that they are making cruelty free scampi bites. It’s like being a teenager all over again!

The bites are so easy to make- as someone who’s afraid of the kitchen (and I’m sure I’m not the only vegan who is)- all you have to do pop them in the oven and in 20 minutes or so they're done.

Serve up with some chips, a heap of minty mushy peas and a dollop of tomato ketchup and you have yourself a vegan taste of the sea. The ultimate comfort food if you don’t live near the seaside and still want to enjoy all the lovely things associated with it.

The golden breadcrumbs were crispy on the outside and the middle was surprisingly flaky and soft- just like you would expect form a breaded fish. I’m amazed by what companies such as Linda McCartney’s can do now- there really is no excuse to harm any fish now you have something as close to the real thing as this.

The oddest thing about them was that they still smelt like scampi as they were heating up in the oven. So there really is no reason to believe you’re not eating scampi. The only noticeable difference was that they are a little more pinky inside than scampi. Perfect for testing out on your meat eating sceptics!

I will certainly buy this product again as I am sucker for anything vegan, frozen and easy peasy to make! A great addition to the collection- keep it up!

Available from Tesco for £2.00 from 13th March.
