The West Midlands Vegan Festival has an unexpected visitor this year- a butcher's shop!

The latest shop to join the exhibition will be selling streaky rashers, smoked steak, rare roast beef and German Spiced Worst.

This isn't your typical butcher's shop however- it's the first travelling vegan butcher's shop in the UK.

Vegan butcher's shops are becoming very popular with many opening up in destinations like Germany and America.

The aforementioned foods aren't something you hear within the vegan community but that's what Sgaia's Vegan Meats will be selling, the UK's first mobile vegan butchers. There is already a Vegetarian Butcher shop in The Hague and America's Herbivorous Butcher in Minnesota, so it's catching on quick all around the world.

The people at Sgaia's Vegan Meats have created their own handmade range from scratch, in small batches using wheat and soya protein.

The 'meat' is full of flavour, high in protein, low in fat and will keep in the fridge for up to 3 months- unlike the real thing.

It all starts with a dough, which is then seasoned and cooked differently according to its individual recipe, to create a variety of products that mimic traditionally meat-based foods.

The organisers at the Vegan Festival are anticipating a few double takes at the sight of the stall this year.

You can visit the vegan butcher at the Sgaia stall at The West Midlands Vegan Festival, which takes place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October 2016 from 10am to 6pm both days, at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, North Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 1RQ. Admission is just £1 (under 16's free), payable at the door. Visit www.midlandsveganfestival.org.uk for more information.
