We've all been to those wedding where everything is ultra traditional. They all seem to blend into one another and it starts to get broing once you've been to one or two.
If you want to ensure your guests remember exactly what happened at your wedding, and that it stands out, have a look at our top tips for personalising your wedding.
Themes
This is the most obvoius way to make your wedding stand out. Traditional weddings may have been all the rage, forever, but your day should reflect your relationship, your lifestyle and your interests as a couple.
They don't have to be garish and brash, a themed wedding can be just as sophisticated as any other. If you're Trekkies, for example - leave the uniforms at home, just for the day (Even the crew of Voyager would wear casuals to a wedding) Choose a Medieval or renassance style dress and have a good hairstylist watch episodes of your favourite series for the hairstyles.
Invites can have a celestial theme, likewise can the decorations. If you have the budget - or artistic and computer whizz friends, have a starfield mural behind the top table, framed with soft voile curtains.
If, for example, you met studying vetinary medcine, have an animal theme. Animals representing the two of you as a cake topper, Goldfish as centrepieces (Just make sure you have somewhere to house them later) Doves released, horse drawn carriages - the list of possibilities is endless.
If you both love re-enactments, you could easily take yourself back to a time long ago and pledge your love to one another in a beautiful medieval wedding ceremony. Have your invitations written in the appropriate font for the time. Serve roast Pork, straight from the pig, Mead, and dark, rich wines, and hire jugglers and minstrels to entertain the crowd.
There are millions of themes and millions of ways to make them look great, just try to reflect your personality in them.
Invites
Invitations set the theme for the whole wedding, so make sure you choose right. Get some card blanks and make your own, if you are artistic, and there are so many different embelishments to be used that it's possible to create great looking cards even if you're not!
Favours
Favours are another aspect of the wedding where you can let your creativity shine through. Present handmade jewellery on organza bags for the ultimate in luxury, home made and iced fairy cakes, or belgian chocolates wrapped in cellophane to match your theme. Just keep it simple, though, as you could have hundreds to do!
Flowers
Your wedding flowers are another big part of your outfit and probably the second thing people will notice about you on the day. Make sure they reflect the tone of the day. Gather some willing volunteers and some flowers and make posies to be proud of. Or even, have the bridesmaids carry a single stem, for the ultra spohisticated look.
