But now new research is showing that men are stepping up to the plate and demanding that they be in control.

Nearly three quarters of wedding planners said that grooms are increasing calling the shots, according to research by Microsoft Office 365.

Over the past two years, the modern groom has stepped up and said that they want to be more involved in the wedding as it is their big day too.

It used to be that men would just step back at let the bride-to-be get on with it but now men are making sure they have a say.

Shockingly, a quarter of wedding planners have said that men are now completely taking over and becoming a ‘groomzilla’.

It’s no surprise then when men do get involved, their favourite parts to get involved with are the drinks, food and entertainment.

Men love their technology so it’s not surprising to see that technology is playing a massive part in weddings.

A massive 82 per cent of couples are now using mood boards online to help pick out themes for their big day and 62 per cent use online photo sharing to discuss ideas.

Nearly 50 per cent are kicking it old-school with spread sheets and 29 per cent use technology for virtual tours and dress fittings.

Celebrity wedding planner Mark Niemierko says, “We’re seeing people move away from the formal ‘speeches and cake-cutting’-style wedding – my clients are seeing their big day as an opportunity to throw a great party for their family and friends, and this has seen men become keener to be involved.

“Tech tools also appeal to guys and help them get even more hands-on in what has traditionally been the domain of the bride.

“Technology is an essential part of planning a wedding these days, from managing the budget and timelines through to creating mood boards for inspiration and much, much more.”
