valentines day is one of the most romantic days of the year to propose, and also, apparently, the busiest.
Around 10% of engagements begin on valentines day, it's estimated. It also doesn't take much of an education to guess that most women were dissappointed with the way their husband to be proposed to them. If you're afraid that will be the case, try emailing him a link to this page!
What most men don't realise is that the story of how they got down on one knee, then swept her off her feet is one that she not only imagained since she was a little girl, but one that she will tell and retell for the rest of her life. A sincere proposal is the most romantic kind and it comes from a man that understands her, loves her, and wants to be with her for the rest of his days.
If the story or her proposal is to live on, make sure it's one worth telling. Nothing reflects worse on you than a bad plan, not even one that goes wrong, so make sure you have every detail down, including the wheres, whens hows and which knee you're going to get down on.
Make it her proposal. Keep her interests over yours when you're planning the proposal. If she's shy, proposing in public might earn you a slap, whereas, if she's ougoing, she might love the idea.
If she's close to her family, let them in on the surprise, before you do it, to make the event even more special for her.
Finally, pick out a ring that's as beautiful as she it, and make sure it dazzles her the first time she sees it, the was she dazzled you. This mainly means not hiding it in food - it's estimated that more adults are given first aid for choking on valentines day than any other day of the year.
