The Engagement

We got engaged on Valentine’s day in 2011 and started thinking of the type of wedding we wanted right away, we set a date for April 2012 but luckily we didn't actually book anything because in January 2012 we found out I was pregnant with our son! After he was born we started talking about the wedding again but never really started planning. One night we were talking and just decided to book it :) we only gave ourselves 11 weeks to plan a whole wedding but I wouldn't have had it any other way :)

The Wedding Venue

The venue was just the local registry office. When we first got engaged we wanted a massive wedding with all the best things but when we started looking at the venue we liked it was going to cost us over £10,000 just for the venue! That's without everything else needed for a wedding! We just thought it was a ridiculous amount of money to spend on one day when we could spend a small fraction of the price and still have an amazing day.

The Wedding Cake

Oh it was amazing! We had 100 cupcakes in 4 different flavours and a giant chocolate cupcake!

Colour Scheme

We had green, ivory and silver. It was really nice. Everyone expected green though because it's my favourite colour, even my phone charger is green!

The Wedding Dress

I didn't have a traditional wedding dress, instead I went for a tea length 50's style dress in ivory. It was custom made by honeypieboutique.co.uk. As soon as I saw it I fell in love! And it was a complete bargain at £149.99! When we first got engaged I was looking at the traditional princess gowns but they weren't me, I love 50's style dresses so I knew it was the one as soon as I saw it.

Most memorable moment?

Oh god, there's so many! It might sound cliche but when the registrar said we were man and wife it was just amazing! But the funniest moment of the night was seeing my new father and brother in law dancing to Moulin Rouge! (More like twerking!) Tt was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen!

The Bridesmaids

I had my 2 sisters and Chris's sister as my bridesmaids. I picked my sisters because they are both 2 of my best friends and I couldn't imagine not having them share my special day with me. And I picked Chris's sister because I wanted her to be involved in our day too.

Tips for brides to be?

Don't stress! We had things that went wrong, and I just didn't let them bother me! I found I had a much more enjoyable day because I didn't let the little things bother me. Also, don't feel like you have to spend an absolute fortune! We spent less than £2000 on the entire day and I have never had a better day :) I know people that have spent upwards of £20,000 on their wedding day and told me on my wedding day that they wished they'd done it the same way that we did because they had much more fun :)
