With the cost of weddings rising and rising, the idea of hiring a wedding co-ordinator probably seems a little decadent. But a little extra outlay on a planner could actually save you money in the long run.

On average, it costs 20% of the entire wedding spend to have a planner help you with everything, from arranging the flowers, to attending on the big day to ensure it goes off without a hitch.

They're there to take the stress out of the day for you, but with their links with wedding suppliers in your area, they can help keep the wedding under budget. Their expertise will save you hundreds in research appointments, and trials, and some can even arrange discounts.

Their links with the wedding industry in your area will mean they also know exectly where to get those fancy centrepieces you've been hankering after, and they will be able to introduce choices and ideas you might not have thought of.

If you don't like the idea of having someone controll your entire day, you can hire someone to help you with certain aspects of the planning from helping you figure out where to start, to sending you off down the aisle in the right order.
