Women Set To Rule In 2007

Females look set to take over the world of politics in 2007, with the French leading the way as the glamorous Presidential runner appears to be a leader in waiting.
Segolene Royale, 53-year-old mother-of-four is the Socialist candidate for the April French General Election, and she looks set to become the country's first female President.
Another woman headed for the political hieghts this year could well be Hillary Clinton, wife of former President Bill. Although she has yet to announce her candicy for the primary elections ( the process where US parties select their presidential candidates for 2008) it is widely expected that Clinton will soon.
Ms Clinton has deliberately played down her ambitions, but many think this is just 'politics' as the lady has not ruled out standing for President, added to this is a signficant lobby group are pressing for her to declare her candicy feeling that Ms Clinton would win against any Republican nominee.
Elsewhere Jamaica's, Portia Simpson-Miller became the country's first female Prime Minister last year.
And Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been President of the Philippines since 2001, voted in following accusations of corruption against the then President Joseph P Ejercito-Estrada. She was then re-elected in the 2004 Presidential elections.
