Nikki Sanderson Announced as Official Ambassador of World Visions 24 Hour Famine Campaign 2007
World Vision, the international relief and development charity, has announced that ex Coronation Street star Nikki Sanderson will be this years official ambassador of its annual 24 Hour Famine, which takes place between 9 11 February 2007.
Now in its 21st year, the 24 Hour Famine is the UKs largest youth fundraising event with more than 2 million people in the UK raising in excess of £20 million since the appeal was launched, to help World Vision in its ongoing commitment to dramatically change the lives of millions of people living in poverty worldwide.
Fundraising from this years campaign will benefit the Keembe community, one of the poorest areas in Zambia. This community is working hard to improve its crop yield in order to produce a sufficient harvest to eat and sell, which in turn will lead to improved health, nutrition and standard of living. World Vision aims to support this project by providing the practical materials and training needed to grow improved crops.
Speaking about her role as the new ambassador for World Visions 24 Hour Famine, Nikki Sanderson says, "Im honoured to be helping a cause that makes such a difference to people around the world.
We all have a duty to help others and I would encourage everyone across the UK to take part in the 24 Hour Famine, to raise these vital funds and also experience what so many have to go through every day of their lives."
