Wives and girlfriends of soldiers serving in the Armed Forces are taking a stance on the squalid living conditions they have to put up with as reported in The Times.
The houses often situated on British barracks are managed by the Ministry of Defence's Modern Housing Solutions which is responsible for maintenance and repairs.
However many families are having to live with faulty boilers, leaving roofs and dodgy electrics. Speaking to The Times, Gail Richardson has moved eight times in 17 years and is currently living in a house that was built quickly to accommodate the returning soldiers from Second World War.
She said: "The houses are like cardboard with no insulation."
Wives of serviceman have very little rights and are overlooked on the tenancy, many have been reluctant to speak out because of the reprecussions it can have on their husbands.
