Inspire the Nation

Inspire the Nation

Summer is always the perfect time to exercise, and what better way than to get yourself outdoors and be on the track to a fitter, healthier you. So why not ditch the cross trainer for some cross country running, swap your spinning classes for a bike ride or take a hike through the sensational forests and parks that the UK has to offer.

Champneys, the UK’s most iconic spa resort, have launched their ‘Inspire the Nation’ campaign in association with the Pink Ribbon Foundation, motivating the nation to get fit and get outdoors this spring.

As recent studies have suggested, a healthy diet and regular exercise can reduce your risk of breast cancer by as much as a third and can help to prevent conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and many other forms of cancer. Champneys pledge to give 10% of all revenue created through their boot camps to the Pink Ribbon Foundation to help get this message across to the nation.

With a host of celebrities offering their support for this enormous project, the aim is to motivate the public to get outdoors and get active while taking in the beautiful surroundings that the British countryside has to offer.

Many celebrities are showing their support and backing the campaign to get the nation fit and healthy this summer

Tom Fletcher- Singer and Guitarist in Mcfly

"Spending hours on tour buses travelling up and down the UK has made me realise how awesomely beautiful our country is. Nothing beats stepping outside and taking a long, deep breath of fresh air and clearing your mind with some exercise. I find running outdoors so inspiring for writing songs, I always carry something to record any ideas I have as I run. We spend so much time inside staring at our computers and phones that it's easy to forget how good sunshine, or even a drop of rain, feels on your skin. Time to get off our wobbly bums and outside... Last one to touch the tree buys the protein shakes!"

Melanie Sykes- Television presenter and model

"I am a firm believer that when it comes to exercising and getting into shape, there is no better way to get active than getting outdoors. We tend to limit ourselves to indoor activities such as running on a treadmill or taking part in a spinning class but there are so many great ways to get fit while taking in some of Britain’s most beautiful surroundings and getting some fresh air into our lungs. This is why I am proud to be supporting the Champneys ‘Inspire the nation to get fit’ campaign in association with The Pink Ribbon Foundation. This campaign has been set up to motivate and educate the nation on the importance of exercising outside."

Harry Judd- Drummer in Mcfly

"I used to dread the idea of going out and exercising but once I got into it I found that I absolutely love it. Nothing makes you feel better. It makes you feel fresh, healthy, positive, motivated and good about yourself. On top of all that, when coupled with a good diet, the health benefits are huge and can be life changing!"

Joan Collins OBE- Actress

"I have to do something. Whether it's painting, writing, acting, shopping, going to the gym, swimming or socializing with friends - I'm just a very active person. The body is like a car: the older you become the more care you have to take care of it - and you don't leave a Ferrari out in the sun. Keeping healthy and active is a huge part of my lifestyle and one of my simple pleasures is to enjoy the British countryside at its best in the spring and summer."

Dave Berry- Radio host and TV presenter

"It's called the 'Great Outdoors' for a reason. Get out there and enjoy it. I'm no Bear Grylls- I would never throw myself into an icy river and I've certainly never drank my own wee (on camera), but there is plenty to do for all, whatever your thing, and the health benefits are obvious."

Caroline Pearce- Former international heptathlete and TV presenter

"The most natural and inspiring gym location we have exists around us - just step into the great outdoors to get fit! Run from tree to tree, stop to squat and lunge and find a bench for dips and push ups. Breath in the fresh air, push your boundaries and most of all have fun!"

Anne Keothavong- Former tennis player

"I absolutely love bashing a tennis ball and running around outdoors and that's why I'm proud to be supporting the Champneys 'Inspire the nation to get fit' campaign in association with the Pink Ribbon Foundation. Regular exercise is so important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and doing it outdoors is so much more enjoyable!"
