Many celebrities have shown overwhelming support for the #HeForShe campaign and the latest in celebsville to discuss feminism is pop beauty, Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift

Praising the 'Harry Potter' star at the United Nations speech about feminism and gender equality on French Canadian talk show 'Tout Le Monde En Parle' on Sunday- Taylor wishes she were a young girl with a celebrity like Emma Watson to look up to.

The 'Shake it Off' singer prides herself on being a feminist but would have understood it more clearly if she had heard a similar speech to Emma's when she were younger.

"I wish when I was 12 years old I would've been able to watch a video of my favorite actress explaining in such an intellectual, beautiful, poignant way the definition of feminism because I would've understood it, and then earlier on in my life I would have proudly claimed that I was a feminist because I would have understood what the word means."

"So many girls out there say, 'I'm not a feminist' because they think it means something angry or disgruntled or complaining or they picture, like, rioting and picketing. It is not that at all. It just simply means that you believe that women and men should have equal rights and opportunities. To say that you're not a feminist means that you think men should have more rights and opportunities than women. I just think that a lot of girls don't know the definition and the fact that Emma got up and explained it I think is an incredible thing and I'm happy to live in a world where that happened."

The pop princess is all clued up on the issue but back in August she explained how she thought feminism meant 'hating men' and how she misunderstood the concept of feminism. Speaking to the guardian, Taylor thanked 'Girls' actress Lena Dunham, as someone who aided her enlightenment.

"Becoming friends with Lena … without her preaching to me, but just seeing why she believes what she believes, why she says what she says, why she stands for what she stands for -- has made me realize that I've been taking a feminist stance without actually saying so."

Well said Taylor!
