Is Our Lesbian Love Illegal?

confused asks:
I'm 18 and my girlfriend is 15, I really love her but her mum found out we're together and she hates me.
I'm a girl and her mum's really homophobic she's threatened to get the police onto me. We haven't had sex, but is it illegal for me to be with her?
No it is not illegal for you to be dating, but the whole situation must be unsettling for your girlfriends mum.
It can be quite difficult to learn your child is gay and even more so to find they are in a relationship with someone older. Parents worry, it is what they are there for.
Try and steer clear from the house while her mum tries to come to terms with the situation and just be there for your girlfriend.
Remember though it is illegal for you to have sex until your girlfriend is over 16.

Homophobia is just wrong but from a parents point of you it is scary when your child starts dating add to that the confusion she must be facing from finding out her daughter is a lesbian and your girlfriend's mum must be feeling overwhelmed be the situation.
There are no laws over lesbians dating so getting the police involved won't do anything but to keep the peace it might be worthwhile to cool things off for a while.
Let your girlfriend know you are there for her if she needs you but that going to her house is not a good idea.
Things should calm down eventually but the real issuer is between your girlfriend and her mum and they need to sort it out between themselves.
