Rosemarie asks :

Hi Lucy,

I have been seeing a man for the last 4 months, he’s wonderful but I just don’t feel any passion. Am I too old to want passion? He is 63 I’m 53.

You are never too old to want or have passion in your love life- it's what keeps your desire for sex going and makes your sex life satisfying.

If you feel this is lacking in your relationship then it's worth talking to your partner about this. Discuss ways you can make things more interesting and exciting in your relationship. It sounds like other areas of your relationship are going well- but this is something that needs a bit more work.

If you are the more passionate one then perhaps you need to encourage him and be the one to initiate sex and new things. That said- you should not have to put in all the effort. Perhaps after time, he will feel more confident to try and introduce new things too- he may just need some practice before he becomes the one who makes the suggestions.

When you talk to him about this- try to praise him for the things he does well when you have sex so he doesn't feel like a bad lover but suggest new things as a means of making it fun and different.

After only four months- it is at this is the point that the passion should be the most intense- so if it's not there now, then this may be something you need to nip in the bud or it may never be there.

If he cares about you then he should be willing to work with you on this and if you care for him then try to be patient with him as this may be quite new for him.
