Grace asks :

Hi Lucy,

So I like this guy who happens to play cricket with my brother. He is 3 years older than me but I don’t know if he likes me. I caught him looking at me the other day but I don't know him that well.... I really think we might have something though... (He's single... Just in case you were wondering!)

Our Reply

Hi Grace,

Why not arrange a party at your house and invite him along? If it’s a big affair then he won’t seem too suspicious if you invite him, or get any teasing from your brother! That would give you a chance to chat to him in a relaxed atmosphere.

Or perhaps you could go to your brother’s cricket games and start talking to him before or after the game. There is plenty to talk about in this situation as you can ask him about his technique in the game- or his opposition. Lots of questions you could ask him to keep the conversation flowing. Perhaps you could suggest asking him to teach you the game and get involved that way- with some one on one sessions.  There are many things you can do to spark his interest and find some common ground.

Once you get to know each other a bit better then things might become clearer about whether he likes you back. Men tend to make the effort with girls they like, so if he does then that could be a good sign. If he doesn’t then at least you will know and can move on.
