Why do some women choose to be a spinster?

There are certain expectations for women to be married and have children by this age, due to traditional points of view. Some women when they reach that milestone feel that they are somehow past the point of finding love. That is not true at all. Many women find love later in life, as they become surer of themselves, more financially independent and more confident in their own skin. A lot of women admit that they felt their most secure in their thirties onwards, more so than when they were younger.

 

It’s all about attitude. If a woman believes that she will never find love after 40 then she probably won’t- however if she takes a different approach and never stops looking for the one, then one day they might come along. Women have to be open minded and ready for new experiences to be appealing to the opposite sex or they might end up playing up to the stereotype when they might not want to.

 

On the flip side, some women have been alone for so long and prefer it that way. If they are financially well off on their own, there is no need for another income. They might not want to have children or wish to do it on their own. There is much more flexibility in a single life now than there has ever been before. Being in a couple can tie you down to one location, because of work or a mortgage- if you are single you are free to move about to wherever work might take you- without having to consider uprooting someone else. Later in life it becomes harder to accommodate another person if you have formed habits and routines- getting together when you are young means you can from them together- but if you have developed these on your own- it makes it extremely difficult to mould your life to suit another. It’s all down to personal preference.
