Animal rescuers in Scotland are hunting for the owners of a hamster that escaped to a sweet shop.

The Scottish SPCA explained that the rodent was spotted in CCTV footage braving freezing temperatures to enter a sweet shop in Glasgow on New Year's Eve (31.12.20) and clung onto a customer who went into the store.

The hamster jumped off the seemingly unaware shopper inside the shop but was quickly captured and turned over to the SPCA.

Animal officer Amy Stirton felt that it was appropriate to finish 2020 with such a strange task.

She said: "We've named the little adrenaline junkie Tom Cruise for now, given his Mission Impossible-esque attempt to get some treats.

"Given how unusual this year has been, it feels appropriate to round off 2020 with such a bizarre job."
