New research has found that the Brummie dialect generates little faith in other people around the country.

The study was conducted by online marketplace OnBuy.com, who asked 2,000 people to rank accents in terms of trustworthiness.

Just four per cent of those asked believe that the Birmingham accent is trustworthy. The second least trusty was the Scouse accent, with just eight per cent suggesting they would have faith in somebody from Liverpool.

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire accent is considered to be the most trusted.

A spokesman for OnBuy.com said: "The UK is known for its rich array of regional accents and dialects.

"But does the way someone sounds have any correlation with our snap judgments towards them in the workplace and social settings?"
