Police were called out to the Picture House in Staffordshire after the bones were discovered by builders working on the site.

The bones have been taken away for analysis by forensics experts, although early indications suggest the remains may only belong to an animal.

The construction work was taking place after the pub - which is currently shut due to the coronavirus lockdown in the UK - had been flooded.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police attended a premises on Bridge Street in Stafford after a number of bones were discovered during construction work.

"They will be examined but at this time they are believed to be animal remains."
