Some of the symptoms that are going ignored include headaches, hearing loss, digestive upsets and back pain, according to hearing aid supplier Hidden Hearing.

TV doctor Hilary Jones said it was worrying that people are not visiting their GP with any worries or pains that they might have.

He said: ''Hearing loss now has strong links to serious health conditions such as dementia and heart health.''
