British man risks own life to rescue tapped lion and wolf in Ukrainian zoo

Tim Locks, alongside his two friends spent four days travelling to war ridden Ukraine, to rescue the lives of a lion and a wolf that were left for dead in a zoo.

He embarked on the 1200-mile mission from Lviv to Zaporizhzhia Oblast after over hearing about their predicament from hotel staff.

Tim, who was already in Ukraine to distribute essentials to victims of war, chronicled his rescue operation whilst updating his followers along the way.

It took three hours for a crane to extract the lion, Simba and wolf, Akela from their cages and place them in the back of a van.

Upon arriving in Romania, guards were in disbelief at the declaration of their cargo.

He told Metro:“One guard told us there was a war on and it was no time to joke around,

“I took him to the side of the van, opened the door, and showed him this proper big lion, like Aslan out Narnia.

“We kept reminding each other that we'd got a lion and a wolf in the back of the van as we were driving and looking back to see there they were, just over our shoulders.”
