Brits' mythical beliefs

New research, conducted on behalf of the SYFY channel ahead of the launch of 'Siren', has revealed that a significant proportion of Brits are convinced they've seen a mythical creature, with five percent saying they've seen a fairy and three percent claiming to have seen mermaids.

What's more, some 2.8 percent and two percent of the population believe that they've encountered the Loch Ness monster and elves, respectively.

The research also revealed that 22 percent of Brits over 16 believe that mermaids do, or could once have, existed, with six percent strongly believing it.

'Siren' starts on May 3 at 9pm on SYFY.
