The unknown man offered deputies a peace offering of baked goods in the hope police would be kinder to him following the breaking of a local storefront .

Writing on Facebook, the Sheriff's department wrote: ''People say cops love donuts but we don't recommend this method of delivery...

''Last week, just after midnight, a 26 year old male broke into the King County Sheriff's Office Fairwood storefront by shattering the front window.

''What did the suspect steal after breaking in to the storefront? Absolutely nothing. Instead, he was found sitting at the table in the back room where Deputies usually complete paperwork. The suspect had his feet up on a chair, watching TV and had just finished smoking a cigar.

''But, fearing Deputies would be mad at him for the break-in, the suspect brought along a peace offering: a fresh box of donuts he'd just purchased from a nearby grocery store. What cop doesn't love donuts, right?

''As he wished, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail. No word on the fate of the donuts. (sic) ''
